When your colitis flares and the back ache is excruciating, a girl has two choices – pain killers and bed, or sit with your friend who has pulled a muscle in her back for a gossip, wine and heat pad comfort on the sofa ☺️

My microscopic colitis has been a nightmare for 6 months. I’ve been on codeine, steroids, and diazepam. But because of this have had an serious ablution issue 😱 and need laxatives. A completely counterproductive method but that’s how our bodies and medicine work in tandem.

Throw in HRT that has over this time become less effective, and the result in addition to the above erratic bowel habits and intense lumbar pain is an increase in night sweats, itchy skin and crushing anxiety. Yay go me. Gratitude at this point is a stranger so all I can do is seek solace in my friends, wine, heat pads and try to laugh about it.
